The 21st India International Foundry Expo 2025 will be held in Kolkata, India, from February 7-9, 2025, alongside the 73rd Foundry Conference. India is the world’s third-largest producer of castings, and the event serves as an important platform for showcasing and exchanging knowledge in the foundry industry, both domestically and internationally.

On January 21, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the "Achievements of China's High-Quality Economic Development" to announce the results of the country's industrial economy's high-quality development for 2024.

Industrial value-added increased by 5.8%, up 1.2 percentage points from 2023. The number of large industrial enterprises reached 512,000, a 6.1% rise from the end of 2023. Total industrial value was 40.5 trillion yuan, with China’s manufacturing sector remaining the world’s largest for 15 years.

In 2024, a total of 201,131 excavators were sold, a year-on-year increase of 3.13%. Of this, 100,543 units were sold domestically, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%, while exports totaled 100,588 units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.24%.

The launch ceremony for FAW Jiefang’s 6DV Super Factory and the first hydrogen engine was held on December 5th in Dalian, Liaoning. The newly unveiled CA6HV3 hydrogen engine has a maximum power output of 460 horsepower, making it the most powerful hydrogen engine in China.

The CA6HV3 hydrogen engine is the first heavy-duty commercial vehicle hydrogen engine with direct cylinder injection, independently developed by FAW Jiefang Automotive Co., Ltd. (FAW Jiefang). It can deliver a maximum output of 460 horsepower and a peak torque of 2100 Nm. The engine can efficiently burn gray hydrogen with a purity of 90%, achieving zero carbon emissions.

To further implement the spirit of documents such as the Guiding Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of the Foundry and Forging Industries and the Interim Measures for Promoting the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Characteristic Industry Clusters, the 9th China Foundry Industry Cluster Annual Conference and High-Quality Development Experience Exchange Meeting was held on December 6, 2024, in Zhenghe County, Fujian Province. The event aimed to promote the experience of high-quality development in industry clusters, establish a platform for communication, and guide the foundry industry clusters to implement national policies, fostering standardized, large-scale, green, and intensive development.

On November 12, 2024, the 10th BRICS Foundry Industry High-Level Forum was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. 

Leaders of foundry industry organizations from BRICS countries, along with a considerable number of distinguished guests, gathered to engage in discussions on recent developments in the foundry industries of BRICS nations,the admission of new members to BRICS, and other related topics.

In September, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing industry was 49.8%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a rebound in the manufacturing industry's momentum.

In terms of enterprise size, the PMI for large, medium, and small enterprises was 50.6%, 49.2%, and 48.5%, respectively, an increase of 0.2, 0.5, and 2.1 percentage points from the previous month.

From the perspective of classification indices, among the five sub indices that make up the manufacturing PMI, the production index is above the critical point, while the new order index, raw material inventory index, employee index, and supplier delivery time index are all below the critical point.

China's manufacturing PMI for July was 49.4%, slightly down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month

In July, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing industry was 49.4%, slightly down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a stable outlook for the manufacturing industry.

In terms of enterprise size, the PMI of large enterprises was 50.5%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month; The PMI for small and medium-sized enterprises was 49.4% and 46.7% respectively, a decrease of 0.4 and 0.7 percentage points from last month.

From the perspective of classification indices, among the five sub indices that make up the manufacturing PMI, the production index is above the critical point, while the new order index, raw material inventory index, employee index, and supplier delivery time index are below the critical point.

The production index is 50.1%, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from last month, which is higher than the critical point, indicating a slight expansion of manufacturing production.

The new order index was 49.3%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from last month, indicating a decline in demand in the manufacturing market.

The raw material inventory index was 47.8%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that the decline in inventory levels of major raw materials in the manufacturing industry has narrowed.

The employment index was 48.3%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a slight rebound in the employment prospects of manufacturing enterprises.

The supplier delivery time index is 49.3%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that the delivery time of manufacturing raw material suppliers has been extended compared to the previous month.

Recently, Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration, said that we should continue to promote the transformation and upgrading of energy use, deepen the promotion of electric energy substitution in industries, buildings, transportation, agriculture and other fields, and enhance the guarantee ability of electric vehicle charging services. Strive to increase the electrification level of terminal energy consumption to around 30% by 2025.
